As Long-Term Plans for Ogden Union Station Come Together, Smaller Projects Are Coming Soon

While Union Station’s larger redevelopment and neighborhood concept will unfold over years or decades, the City is advancing smaller, tangible near-term improvements to elevate the station’s visibility and experience. These include restoring the historic fountain near the front entrance (contractor onboard, work beginning in spring), refreshing the station’s lettering and potentially upgrading to LED lighting, and improving landscaping around the Wall Avenue/25th Street plaza area. Behind the scenes, infrastructure upgrades (electrical, roofing, basement drainage) have already been completed. Mayor Nadolski reaffirmed that these actions are not only pragmatic interim steps but also reflect measured, responsible governance that avoids extremes of speculation about the City’s intentions (e.g., tearing down the station or inappropriate commercial repurposing).
